DREAMERS, LOVERS, OUTLAWS: The Listening Room

Let It Come (Click for Lyrics)

Michael Bowers (ASCAP)
After the November elections, it seemed like the country exhaled. The campaigns had been nasty, and even the weather in Washington, DC (and where we live in Alexandria) seemed to calm down. This song essentially "fell" out of the sky in about 30 minutes on a warm late November day as I was walking around Old Town. It is both a promise and a prayer.
For every cold dark night,
For every thunderstorm
There is a calm new light
I say let it come, I say let it come

For every bloody fight
For every hate filled tongue
There is a word of peace
I say let it come, I say let it come

CH Let it come between us like a soothing breeze
Like a sprig of hope from a dove of peace
And in this moment we are face to face
Can we touch the truth can we feel the grace
Can we let it come, Can we let it come
<>
For every dream that’s lost
For every lonely soul
There is a harbor home
I say let it come, I say let it come

For every breaking heart
For every ounce of pain
There is a healing start
I say let it come, I say let it come

CH Let it come between us like a soothing breeze
Like a sprig of hope from a dove of peace
And in this moment we are faced to face
Can we touch the truth can we feel the grace
Can we let it come, Can we let it come

For every cold dark night
For every thunderstorm
There is a calm new light
I say let it come
